Mr. Bhattacharya is one of the founders and the core managerial personnel of our business and is responsible for the overall management, strategic planning, alliances and business development from inception. Mr. Bhattacharya is also serving as the Co-Chairman of the biotechnology committee of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Besides being a board member of West Bengal Electronics Industry Development Corporation Limited (WEBEL), the nodal IT/IT infrastructure arm of the Government of West Bengal, Mr Bhattacharya is also on the board of a number of TCG group companies. Mr. Bhattacharya has over 25 years of international experience. Prior to establishing TCG Lifesciences for TCG group he was leading all financial and structuring aspects of TCG’s investments in India. He has also worked for Paine Webber Inc. (currently UBS Paine Webber) and has been Advisor to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission where he was responsible for developing strategies in the disposal of nuclear materials and waste.
Mr. Bhattacharya is a B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, M.S. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and M.B.A. from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
Mr. Sastry heads the Custom Synthesis team and is also responsible for developing large-scale business. He is an expert in APIs and dosage forms and has over 35 years of experience in pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining the company in the year 2008, Mr. Sastry was Vice President, Operations with Wuxi Pharma Tech Inc., China. At WuXi, he also headed its API manufacturing subsidiary as its CEO. Mr. Sastry’s experience includes serving as Chief of Global API business for Jubilant Organosys and working with companies such as Abbott Laboratories, Aventis, Cadila Healthcare, Hoeschst.
Mr. Sastry is an M.Com from Maharaja Sayajirao University, Baroda and has specialization in Marketing Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Management Institute, Mumbai.
Dr. Ashis Saha is focusing on discovery research programs. He has over 18 years of experience of advancing compounds to clinical development stage. His therapeutic areas of expertise include anti-infective, oncology, CNS and autoimmune diseases. He operates out of Massachusetts, USA. Prior to joining the company in the year 2007, he has worked with Epix Pharma and Johnson & Johnson.
Dr. Saha is a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Michigan.
Dr. Surya heads the biology research operations and has been associated with the company since 2001. He is the key person in developing the biology services. His prior experience includes working for Ranbaxy Research Laboratories, India, GSK and SmithKline Beecham, USA.
An M.Sc. from IIT, Kanpur, Dr. Surya is a PhD from Syracuse University, USA, in protein structure and function.
Dr. Sundermann is a medical chemist by training. Prior to joining the company in the year 2008, Dr. Sundermann was head of Drug Discovery at Grunenthal GmBH in Aachen, Germany. With the goal to create first – in – class NCEs he has worked on the interfaces with pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and toxicology. He has been named as one of the inventors in more than 75 patents.
Dr. Basu has been with the company since 2001. He is a part of the core team responsible for the growth of the company. His expertise in the area of chemistry includes total synthesis of steroids; Ni catalyzed organic transformations, development of new reagents and methodologies and parallel synthesis of libraries. He did his Post-doctoral Fellowship at the Department of Chemistry, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan. He has worked with Discovery Partners International, USA. Dr. Basu has ten publications in peer reviewed international journals and more than 20 patents including one US patent to his credit.
Dr. Basu is a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune, India.
Dr. Saha has been with us since 2001. He is a part of the core team responsible for the growth of the company. Prior to joining the company he worked with the Florida Institute of Technology, USA as a Research Scientist. He was also a visiting professor at Osaka University, Japan. He has published 17 papers in international journals.
Dr. Saha is a PhD from the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Calcutta.
Dr. Roychowdhury has been with the company since 2001. He is a part of the core team responsible for the growth of the company. His area of expertise includes method development and validation of new chemical entities, and impurity profiling and characterization of novel molecules. Prior to joining the company he was with Ranbaxy Research Laboratories, Lupin Pharmaceuticals and Hindustan Aluminum Corporation.
Dr. Roychowdhury is a PhD from Banaras Hindu University in Organic Chemistry..
Dr. Sponholtz joined the company in the year 2004 and operates out of Massachusetts. She is responsible for business development client contact in USA. Prior to joining the company, she worked as a business development manager with Rhodia Pharma Solutions, Girindus America Inc. and Pharm-Eco Laboratories. She has also worked as a scientist with Pharm-Eco and Dartmouth College.
Dr. Sponholtz is a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Dartmouth College. She was also a part of the ‘Personal Development Program’ at Harvard Business School on “Finance for Senior Executives”.
Mr. Pandya has been with the company since 2001. His expertise is in the areas of financial planning, structuring and management. He also has substantial experience in resource planning and deal structuring. Prior to joining the company he was with Institute of Molecular Medicine and Chatterjee Management Services.
Mr. Pandya is a B. Tech. in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and has done his PGDM in Finance and Operations Management from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
Mr. Ray is with us since 2001 and his area of expertise lies in designing and institutionalizing effective and robust HR and administrative systems and processes to cater to the organizational needs of rapidly growing service-based organizations. He has specialized in formulating relatively new HR methods for start up companies. His industry knowledge spans over Energy & Power; Infrastructure; Lifesciences and Information Technology.
Mr. Ray is a graduate in Electrical Engineering and has done his Post Graduation Diploma in Human Resource Management and Operation from XLRI, Jamshedpur.
Mr. Dasgupta is responsible for managing legal and environmental compliances, procurement, sourcing, logistics and export & import procedures. He has over 21 years experience in chemical industry. Mr. Dasgupta is a Chartered Accountant.
